Wheely Good

Wheely Good, an interactive online Accessiblity Map of premises in Darlington, was launched at a press conference at Darlington Town Hall.

The site, developed in partnership with Darlington Association on Disability, is the first of its kind in the country and a massive step forward for disabled people in Darlington, launching 20 months ahead of new legislation on accessibility.

Among the guests at the launch were Darlington Borough Council leader John Williams, DAD chairman Gordon Pybus, and Labour MP for Darlington Alan Milburn, who cut the on-screen ribbon and said this about the new site:

"This is a very important facility, and provides certainty for disabled people, rather than leaving it to chance." "It is a small thing, but it is about being socially inclusive. We can be very proud that we have such a strong community."
